Cochin Half Day Sightseeing For Cruise Ship Passengers

Join our journey through time and understand the history of Fort Cochin, colonial and modern Kochi. You will be picked up by your guide at the given time and then proceed for a tour of Cochin by your private car. You will first walk along the along the beach and then witness the working of the Chinese fishing nets. The Chinese fishing nets believed to be brought to Kochi by the Chinese Traders. Visit the St Francis church, the oldest European Church in India. Vasco da Gama,the first Portuguese sailor to reach the shores of Kerala died in 1524 and was originally buried here. You will then visit the The Santa Cruz Basilica, originally built in 1557  by the Portuguese. You will walk through Princess Street where one can witness the grandness of the colonial area. 

We will meet you at the pier with the guide and driver and you will take the short drive to Mattancherry to visit Dutch Palace (Friday closed), Built by the Portuguese in 1557 . The palace with a Bhagavathi Temple in the central courtyard is built like the typical Kerala style mansion - the Nalukettu. The palace building which stands by the panoramic Kochi backwaters has an exquisite collection of murals and the themes of these murals have been borrowed from the great Indian epics - the Ramayana and the Mahabharatha. Enter into Jew town, the centre of spice trade in Cochin. Take a walk along the Jew Town and you can breathe the aroma of pepper, ginger, turmeric and cloves. At the corner of the Jew town, you will visit the Jewish Synagogue, built in 1568 and the oldest synagogue in the commonwealth. It houses many rare antiques. 

At the end of tour, your guide will drop you back at the pier.
