Early next morning you will ride through the Indira Gandhi Wildlife sanctuary to reach Pollachi (64 kms). Stop for a while at the monkey falls and the Aliyar dam. Explore the local village life once you reach Pollachi.

Exploring the wildlife sanctuaries

Start early, and ride through the villages and reserve forests, to reach the Chinnar Wildlife Sanctuary. At Chinnar, trek through the dry deciduous scrubs with your naturalist. Visit the dolmens and the tribal settlements.

After breakfast, trek to the village of Champakkad. Take a cooling dip in the Pampar River, before beginning the day's ride. You will ride through picturesque landscapes to Kailasappara. Halt at Munnar, and visit the famous Tea Museum.

The next stretch of 22 kms is through narrow roads. Your destination is the quaint hamlet of Kailasappara. Take in the breathtaking views or go on an exciting jeep ride to a nearby hillock.

From Periyar to the backwaters

Next day, ride to Periyar (55 kms). Enjoy the scenic beauty of the man-made lake and its flora and fauna. Next morning, begin your descend to the backwaters of Nedumudy. Ride past small villages, rubber plantations to reach the serene backwaters.

Continue your journey through the backwaters to Alleppey (10 kms). Enjoy a delicious Kerala lunch with a local family, before riding on to Marari (15 kms). Once you reach Marari, relax at the unspoilt beaches.
